The Diamond Caper by Peter Mayle

The Diamond Caper is total escapist fluff, if you're in the mood for such a diversion during the pandemic. It's ostensibly about identifying and catching the person/people behind a series of high-profile diamond thefts on the French Riviera. But a lot of verbiage is devoted to food and gallivanting around places like Antibes and St Tropez and nights at the opera and fancy dinner parties--with the slightest bit of plot thrown in.

If nothing else, it did make me want to go to the south of France once it's safe to travel again.
