 This is the latest in the Emmy Lake series that began with Dear Mrs Bird. In the first book, Emmy Lake stumbled into a job at a sleepy women's magazine in London during WW2. In the 2nd book, the team at the magazine made it a financial and popular success. But in the 3rd book, the original owner, Lord Overton, has died and left the magazine to his flaky niece, Miss Porter--who has lots of ideas on how to "improve" the magazine.Since she has no clue why readers love the magazine, her ideas cost the publication subscribers and advertisers. But she doesn't care. Emmy, editor Guy, and the rest of team try desperately to save the magazine they love but they haven't reckoned with how stubborn and shall we say devious Miss Porter can be. Of course, because it's set during the war, there are also stories of love and loss. A good addition to the Emmy Lake series.
