After That Night by Karin Slaughter

I really like the characters of Will Trent, his true love Sara, his partner Faith, and his boss Amanda. But these stories keep getting darker and darker. This one focuses on rape. Sara was raped 15 years earlier, right after winning a prestigious fellowship. The attack totally changed the trajectory of her life. When the story starts, she is the main witness in the court case against a man named Tom, who was arrested for drugging and raping a young woman. Sara was the doctor who treated her in the ER. Sara had been in medical school with--and had a contentious relationship with--Tom's parents, Mac and Britt. Sara runs into a stressed out and drugged up Britt in the ladies room at the courthouse, where Britt implies that Sara's rape is tied in with the current rape. Will and Faith try to investigate under the radar since they don't have Amanda's blessing to work on this case. And when they finally unravel the whole story, it's even more disturbing than they imagined. I hope the next book is a little less gruesome.
