One Woman Show by Christine Coulson

Christine Coulson served as a writer for the Metropolitan Museum of Art for 25 years and she brings that background to this quirkly little book. The whole story of Kitty Whitaker's life is told in the form of labels like you'd see at a museum describing a piece of art. While she didn't have a particularly noteworthy life in terms of accomplishments, Kitty's story is reflective of the times she lived in (she was born in 1906).

It's a quick read--I think I read the whole book in about an hour--and it's amazing how much information the author packs into her "art labels." Definitely worth reading for the originality of the concept.
