Don't Waste Your Time

I was looking for a good legal thriller for summer reading. Cheaters, by Nancy Taylor Rosenberg, is not it. This is apparently the continuation of a story started and developed in earlier books, which I'll admit I have not read. The main character is a California judge named Lily who is not at all likeable and who, truthfully, seems to need psychiatric help. Years earlier, Lily and her daughter had been attacked and raped by a man in their home. Lily thought she recognized the man, so she found him and killed him. She later discovered that she had killed the wrong man, though he was a bad guy so she didn't feel too guilty.(This all happened in the earlier books and was told in flashbacks here.)Now she is a judge, her marriage is falling apart, and her daughter is barely speaking to her. She comes onto the radar of a female serial killer, Anne, who is out to rid the world (very gruesomely) of cheating husbands because of "father" issues. The only likeable character in the whole book is Mary, the FBI agent who is trying to catch the serial killer but she's not on enough pages to offset all the depressing goings on with Lily and Anne.

Since this author has alot of fans, I'm assuming her earlier books were better. But Cheaters is not worth your time.
