The Proving Ground by Michael Connelly
Mickey Haller, of Lincoln Lawyer fame, has switched from criminal law to civil law. And his first big case involves a heartbroken mother who is suing a large artificial intelligence company over the death of her daughter at the hands of her ex boyfriend. The ex had developed a "relationship" with an AI character named Wren, who told him to get rid of the girl, so he did.
It's a fascinating and kind of scary story especially since AI seems to be rapidly encroaching on our lives and there don't seem to be a lot of guardrails on the technology. Couldn't stop reading.
