Go Gentle by Maria Semple

 The heroine of this tome, Adora Hazzard, is a stoic/philosopher who works for the Lockwood Museum. She's a divorced mom who has formed a "coven" of similarly single women around her age, who all live in the same apartment building in NYC. Life is going along fairly smoothly for Adora when she goes to the ballet one night and ends up sitting next to a man named Digby, to whom she is instantly attracted--and that meeting sets of a chain reaction of events that changes her life in many unexpected ways. It's an interesting and very quirky story, if you're in the mood for something different.
