A charming tale

The Double Comfort Safari Club by Alexander McCall Smith is a worthy new installment in the author's Botswana series (which started with The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency). Precious Ramotswe and her prickly assistant, Grace, are back to solve several new cases. But there are also developments in their personal lives. Grace's finance, Phuti, is badly injured in an accident and his domineering aunt tries to break up the couple. We also see the return of the duplicitous Violet Sephotho, Grace's nemesis from secretarial school. The story is served up with gentleness, humor, and plenty of bush tea.

  1. Just finished a great whodunit: Murder in the Marais by Cara Black. Anti-semitism and neo-Nazis Paris, 1993, collide with an unsolved murder in Occupied Paris, 1943. Detective Aimee Leduc is as likable as she is savvy!
