Mystery is the latest in the popular Alex Delaware series by Jonathon Kellerman.
Alex and his longtime love Robin go out for a drink one night and see a beautiful young woman waiting for someone who never shows up. Two days later, Alex is shocked to find that that her murder is the case assigned to his best friend, police lieutenant Milo Sturgis. At the same time, Alex (a psychologist) is working with a woman with a shady past who has a terminal illness--and a small son she is worried about leaving behind.
Eventually, the two stories intersect. Long-held secrets come to light and the murderer is revealed. A good story, well told.
