Seems like it's been a couple of years since we last checked in with sleuth Kinsey Milhonne. So I was glad to see she was back with another adventure. And I do love the 80s ambiance and details. (It's hard to believe I've been reading this series since the 1980s. That is longevity.) It's amazing how much techology has changed since this series started. I chuckle every time she has to go to the library to look something up--or find a pay phone.)

Kinsey gets hired to find the now-grown son given up for adoption by a woman living in a fabulous mansion. Except Kinsey later finds out the mansion has been on the market for years and no one really lives there--and the woman paid her with marked bills. Kinsey is determined to find out what is really going on--and to warn the "son" that someone is looking for him for unknown reasons. At the same time, she is trying to finish solving a case late (and not much lamented) PI Pete Wolinsky was working on before his death--which puts her own life in jeopardy. And she's helping her landlord Henry deal with some unpleasant new neighbors.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and am sorry that we're getting near the end of the alphabet.
