Journey to Munich by Jacqueline Winspear

Unlike some other series, which seem frozen in time, the excellent Maisie Dobbs series continues to move forward through the years. It started with Maisie a nurse in WWI and we're now in the 1930s, as war is about to break out again in Europe.

Maisie is still recovering from the loss of her beloved husband and baby. When the British Secret Service asks her to undertake a possibly dangerous mission, she thinks it will be a good way to get her life back so she accepts. Her mission is to go to Munich and retrieve a British businessman who has been imprisoned at Dachau--while pretending to be his daughter. Before she leaves, she gets a request from John Otterburn. Since Maisie blames the Otterburns for her husband's death, she is not eager to help him out. And once she gets to Munich, she realizes that his request could put her in a very precarious position.

If you've enjoyed the rest of the series, you will enjoy Journey to Munich. If you're unfamiliar with the series, start at the beginning with Maisie Dobbs.
