Royals by Rachel Hawkins

In trying times like these, it's nice to find some good escapism in a book. For that I recommend Royals: He's No Price, But He Sure is Charming. Yes, it's total fluff but it has a sense of humor and likeable characters. And it will temporarily take you away from your troubles.

The premise is that typical American teenager Daisy Winter's life is totally thrown into turmoil when her older sister Eleanor gets engaged to British prince Alex, son of the Queen of England. Daisy breaks up with her boyfriend who goes on the internet and says it was because she was interested in Alex's brother, the dashing prince Sebastian (whom she barely knows). And the press starts following her everywhere. The Royal Family decides it would be easier to control the press from their side of the pond, so they pretty much order the Winters family to come spend the summer in Scotland. That sets off a whole other cycle of press hysteria linking Daisy to Seb which must be countered with a fake romance with Seb's best friend Miles. There are plenty of hijinks and misunderstandings and romantic liaisons and polo matches and fancy dress balls. And it's all just a rollicking good time.
