The Matchmakers of Minnow Bay by Kelly Harms

I was just in the mood for a charming book and Minnow Bay nicely filled the bill. Lily is an artist in Chicago who is struggling financially. And just found out she's getting evicted. She asks her best friend Renee and her gallery-owner boyfriend Mitchell for help but both say no. As she's packing up her things and wondering where to go next, she finds some paperwork for an annulment from a spur-of-the-moment marriage she had entered into 10 years earlier with a guy named Ben. And realizes she forgot to file the paperwork so she is still legally married to Ben. In an attempt to make things right, she tracks him down to a small town in Wisconsin called Minnow Bay. It turns out Ben is a wealthy dot.com guy and thinks she just tracked him down to get a lot of alimony. She is insulted and tells him she won't sign the alimony papers until he apologizes. As her departure from Minnow Bay keeps getting postponed because of one mishap after another, Lily starts to look at her life, her career, the choices she's made, and who her real friends are. It was a delightful book and a perfect read for a cold winter's day during a pandemic.
