Dava Shastri's Last Day by Kirthana Ramisetti

Dava Shastri is famous philanthropist who found out she has terminal cancer. After watching her husband suffer a long and lingering demise years earlier, she decided she didn't want to go out that way. So she arranged for assisted suicide surrounded by her family on her private island over Christmas. And she had her death announcement leaked early so she could read the glowing reviews of her life before she passed. Except the reporters also uncovered a number of scandals that she was appalled to find had become the focus of the obituaries.

This is a thought-provoking story about one dynamic woman and the choices she made over her lifetime--and how they impacted the family she loved. It sounds like it would be sad (which it is in parts) and depressing (which it is not).  This novel would generate a lively discussion in a book group.
