Do No Harm by Robert Pobi

I didn't realize this was part of a series, but now that I've read Do No Harm, I must go find the earlier books. Lucas Page is a unique hero. He's an astrophysicist (and sometime FBI consultant) who sees the world through numbers and patterns. So when he attends a charity event with his surgeon wife, Erin, and there's a memorial presentation on all the doctors who have died in the area (NYC) in the previous year, he thinks the odds are just astronomical that they would have all died of natural causes or accidents. He brings his suspicions to the FBI, who begin to investigate whether someone is killing off the doctors of New York City. Then someone tries to kill Erin.

I started this book yesterday afternoon and finished it this evening. Couldn't put it down.
