Long Gone by Joanna Schaffhausen

 This is part of a series set in Chicago featuring a cop named Annaliese Vega. She has quite the reputation in the department because she turned her own father in. At the moment she's investigating the death of a cop who was murdered in his own bed while his much younger wife was hiding in the bathroom. She's also trying to solve the cold case murder of a beautiful graduate student. And she's trying to keep herself from getting killed because the more she investigates, the more people she's making very nervous.

I really enjoyed the character and the story. So I will seek out other books in this series.
