 January writes romance novels and believes in happy endings. But her world comes crashing down when her beloved dad dies and she finds out--at the funeral, no less--that he had an affair. She's supposed to be writing her newest romance novel but is suffering from writer's block and is going broke. Plus her long-time boyfriend broke up with her because he couldn't deal with her angst. She has moved into her father's "love nest" beach house in Michigan to write her manuscript. Imagine her surprise to discover that her next door neighbor is Gus, a guy she had a major crush on in college. Gus is also a writer but his books are a lot more serious and dark. She thinks he doesn't take her romance novels seriously so they challenge each other to write a book in each other's style, with lessons on how to write their respective styles along the way. What could go wrong? Or right?
