The Last Devil to Die by Richard Osman

 This is the latest in the charming Thursday Murder Club mystery series. This installment features a missing terracotta box full of heroin that lands in the hands of antiques shop owner Kuldesh Sharma, an old friend of Elizabeth's husband, Stephen. Kuldesh gets murdered, the box goes missing, and everyone in the county seems to be looking for it. The Murder Club is trying to solve the murder and find the heroin. Local cops Donna and Chris have been displaced by a snarky SIO named Jill, though they are still working on the case under the radar. The Club is also trying to help one of their neighbors who is being scammed by a woman named Tatiana (who they are convinced doesn't really exist). And while this is all going on, Elizabeth is dealing with Stephen's worsening Alzheimer's. In this story, there are some very funny moments but also some particularly sad ones. Which, as Joyce would say, is not unexpected at their age. Can't wait for their next adventure.
