Life, Death and Giants by Ron Rindo

I can't recommend this book enough. It starts with the birth of a very large baby, delivered by a small-town veterinarian in Wisconsin. The boy, Gabriel, starts out big and just keeps growing, eventually reaching over 8 feet tall. Though he begins life in a small Amish community, he soon begins to travel the world before returning to his humble beginnings.

Although it is kind of an unusual subject, it is such a beautifully written book that you are immediately drawn into Gabriel's world and that of Hannah (his Amish grandmother) and Thomas (the veterinarian who delivered him) along with several other of the locals, both Amish and "English." Different characters narrate different chapters, each giving his or her perspective on Gabriel's life. Couldn't put it down.
