Definitely Maybe Not a Detective by Sarah Fox

I liked Emersyn, the heroine of the story, and the way she's taken in her little niece after her brother's death. But I didn't love the way she acted like a giggly 13 year old every time she was in the vicinity of a cute guy. I wish the author had toned that down a little.

Now to the plot: Emersyn ends up investigating the death of her building's janitor (even though she's not a detective). She's assisted by a hunk named Wyatt whom she met while tracking down her ex, Hoffman, who stole her life savings before breaking up with her. The 2 of them try to track down the alibis of everyone who lives in the building and frequent visitors. She eventually realizes who the killer must be--which almost gets her killed. And yet, it looks like she and Wyatt are thinking of really starting a detective agency by the end of the book. Perhaps this is the start of a series?
