Summers at the Saint by Mary Kay Andrews

The exclusive St Cecelia Resort (or The Saint) is the place to be in the local coastal community--if you can afford it. Traci and her best friend Shannon came from simpler circumstances and only become really acquainted with The Saint as teens, when they both work there as lifeguards. One summer, a young boy drowns in the Saint's pool, despite their best efforts to save him. Shannon gets fired and ends her friendship with Traci, who later falls in love with and marries the younger son of the family that owns The Saint. Fast forward to present time. Traci is now a widow running the Saint by herself but the pandemic and other financial reverses are making the future of the resort look precarious. And her hated brother-in-law is up to something nefarious, though she's not sure what. She convinces her beloved niece, Parrish, to come work at the resort--then Parrish turns up dead. Traci is frantically trying to keep her head above water while Olivia, a young waitress who turns out to be Shannon's daughter, is determined to figure out what really happened to Parrish. It's an engrossing story with three strong female characters: Traci, Olivia, and Felice (the newly hired chef). Good summer read.
