The Reckoning by Jane Casey

I didn't realize that The Reckoning was part of a series when I picked it up. But not having read the 2 earlier books did not diminish my enjoyment of this page-turner one bit. Maeve Kerrigan is a London cop in a mostly male squad room. She and her obnoxious new partner, Josh Derwent,are assigned to a case involving the torture and murder of a pedophile. Soon there is another similar case. Then another. They turn out to be tied to a missing-child case, which sets the investigation in a whole new direction. There's also a "leak" in the squad, a stalker who's targeted Maeve and a romance that is kind of rocky. I couldn't wait to find out all the whos and whys.
