Keep Calm by Mike Binder

Forrmer cop Adam Tatum made a mistake in judgment while living in Michigan that landed him in prison and almost destroyed his family. They move to the Chicago suburbs and started over when Adam lands a job at a multinational investments firm, thanks to his British father-in-law. Adam feels in over his head and is shocked to find out he has been chosen to attend a meeting the firm is having with the British government at number 10 Downing Street. Adam and his British wife, Kate, as well as their 2 children are invited on the trip. All of which begins to raise suspicions in Adam's mind. Kate, who longs to see her father and homeland, is delighted about the trip and tells Adam to embrace the opportunity that's been offered. But things keep getting weirder and weirder once Adam et al arrive in London and he doesn't want to attend the big meeting because he's convinced he is being set up as the fall guy for something bad that is going to happen--which turns out to be true. Something earth-shattering happens at the meeting and Adam and his family are soon on the lam in a foreign country with no one to trust.

It was pretty clear (at least to me) early on who the bad guys were and what their agenda was. But I still enjoyed the book. Adam's trying to keep his family alive but has to deal with not only the bad guys and the government chasing him but a lippy, rebellious teenage daughter and a wife who's still interested in an old boyfriend. It all contributes to ratcheting up the tension in this page-turner.
