The Tea Planter's Wife by Dinah Jefferies

If you're just in the mood for some good historical fiction, give The Tea Planter's Wife a whirl.
In 1925, 19-year-old Gwen heads off to Ceylon to join her new husband, the widower Laurence, on his tea plantation. She comes to love Ceylon and settles into her new life, but there are challenges. One is Laurence's very needy and manipulative sister, Verity. And another turns up when she becomes pregnant with twins. She also has to deal with the  memory of Laurence's first wife, Caroline, and their son, both of whom died under mysterious circumstances. It's a good story with some interesting twists and turns.

Wife was a best seller in Britain.
