Anxious People by Frederick Backman

 Anxious People is a very clever story  that is sort of like a big tangled string of Christmas lights waiting to be untangled.

It involves a man who jumped off a bridge, a girl who almost jumped off the same bridge--and the impact of those 2 events of other people's lives. It also involves a very inept bank robber and a group of, for lack of a better word, hostages. And a father and son cop team in a small Swedish town.

Parts of the story are told with a wry sense of humor and other parts are genuinely sad. Definitely worth reading.
