This is the Story of a Happy Marriage by Ann Patchett

 I asked my sister for an uplifting book recommendation and this is what she picked. It's a collection of columns and essays by Ann Patchett of Bel Canto fame. She talks about everything from her beloved dog to her beloved grandmother to a nun she detested in grade school then grew to be good friends with as an adult.She tells us about her dysfunctional upbringing, which convinced her to never have children and to really not want to get married. And she talks about her happy marriage--after a VERY long courtship.

While I liked some of the selections more than others, I would definitely recommend this collection. Ann Patchett is a very talented writer--and she does have a charming sense of humor.
