The Other Black Girl by Z. D. Harris

First off, I'll admit that I'm not the target audience for this book, but it got good reviews so I thought I'd give it a go. And I liked the first half. Nella is working hard at a NYC publishing house trying to become an editor--and she's the only Black girl on the editorial staff. Then Hazel shows up. First Nella is thrilled to have another Black girl on the team, then she begins to wonder what Hazel's real agenda is. Up until then, the author had me. Then things start taking a mystical turn, which is where the author lost me. Plus there were a lot of subplots that kept popping up, which I found confusing--it was a lot of characters to keep track of.

Would love to know what anyone else thought of this book.
