Drowning by TJ Newman

If you're looking for a real page-turner, this is the book for you. But I wouldn't recommend bringing it along if you're heading for a long flight. The premise is that a flight from Honolulu  starts experiencing critical technical difficulties minutes after leaving the airport. The pilots can't turn back and can't stop the plane from crashing. (That was the one loose thread I thought the author left unaddressed--what caused this massive mechanical failure?) Anyway, the plane crashes in the ocean and most people head out the emergency exits with their life vests. But Will (an engineer traveling with his tween daughter, Shannon) can see that staying inside the plane is their best chance of survival as the burning fuel escaping from the plane is causing a nightmare outside. He and a handful of other passengers remain inside and try to protect themselves as best they can until help can arrive. But the authories are having a hard time figuring out exactly how to rescue them from their precarious position and their oxygen is running out. I stayed up way too late last night finishing it.
