You Can't Stay Here Forever by Katherine Lin

Ellie and Ian are newlywed lawyers in San Francisco. One night as she's heading to meet her best friend Mabel for drinks, she gets call from the local hospital saying her husband has died in a car crash. She's devastated. Then she gets the police report and can't figure out why he was in the neighborhood where the crash occurred. Then Ian's boss--at the reception after the funeral, no less--hits on her. When she rejects him, he tells her Ian had a girlfriend and Ellie realizes it's one of the lawyers at her firm. She freaks and decides to use her husband's life insurance money to finance a trip to a luxury hotel in the south of France with Mabel to figure out what to do with her life. There, the two women meet Robbie and Fauna, a couple they spend a freakishly large amount of time with. And Ellie begins to realize a lot of truths about herself and Ian and even her relationship with Mabel--which hopefully will set her off on a better path for the future. It was an interesting character study.
