Hot Desk by Laura Dickerman
Rebecca and Ben have never met but they share a desk. The 2 work for different publishing companies that share office space and both want to be the one to edit the newly found works of legendary Edward David Adams, who has just died. Rebecca is surprised to get called to a meeting with Rose, the author's widow--only to find out that Rose and her mother had been best friends in their 20s, when they both worked with Adams.
I thought this book might be chic-lit fluff: Ben and Rebecca share a desk and fall in love through post-it notes left for each other on alternate work days. But there was a lot more to the story than that. And a lot of it revolves around the budding friendship of Rose and Rebecca's mother, Jane, which is told in flashbacks. And which impacts the relationship between Rebecca and Ben.
The pages at the end, where we get updates on some of the minor characters that keep popping up throughout the story, are hilarious.
