Memorial Days by Geraldine Brooks

Writer Geraldine Brooks was at her home on Martha's Vineyard when she got a call saying her husband, Tony, had passed away. Tony had been on a book tour for his latest work when he collapsed on a sidewalk. A passerby did CPR and got someone to call 911, but it was too late. And so began a devastating journey that Geraldine never wanted to take.

The book alternates between the weeks after Tony's death and three years later, when she heads to a remote part of Australia to really mourn her beloved husband, the man she had hoped to grow old with. I loved the author's books March and Horse, and this is just as beautifully written though extremely sad.
