Life: A Love Story by Elizabeth Berg
If you're looking for a book to make you appreciate the little things in life, I highly recommend Life: A Love Story. It recounts the story of 92 year old Florence Greene, who was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer and doesn't have much time to live. But she decides to make the most of the time she has left. She makes some new friends. Gets her first pedicure. And decides to write a letter to her former next-door neighbor, Ruthie, who was the daughter she and her husband never had. Flo wants to leave her house to Ruthie and writes a letter to explain why she kept some of the things she did--a collection of watches, a teddy bear, a rubber band in a white box. And along the way, we learn the story of Flo's life--and her love story with her late husband, Terrence. Charming and touching.
