Where About A Boy meets The Sure Thing
A Question of Attraction by David Nicholls is, in a nutshell, the story of the first year of college at an English university. But it's so much more. At times, laugh-out-loud funny. At other times, heartbreaking. Our hero is Brian Jackson, a scholarship student with lofty goals--and too often, without a clue. He falls for a beautiful rich girl. Lives on junk food. Drinks too much. And can't figure out how to reconcile his old life with his new life. All while striving for a shot at success on his favorite TV show, University Challenge, a quiz show for the college set.
The humor reminded me of Nick Hornsby's About A Boy. The main character reminded me of John Cussack's character in the classic movie, The Sure Thing.
