Movie review: The American

George Clooney has made some interesting movie choices. I loved Three Kings and Up in the Air, hated Men Who Stare at Goats. The American is somewhere in between. Let's just say it doesn't make a career as a professional killer/weapon maker look too appealing. And unlike the recent Letters to Juliette, it doesn't even make Italy look too appealing. Geo is appropriately tightly wound and paranoid. And the girl who plays his love interest in Italy is good. But the story doesn't exactly make sense. And the pace is very slow, which may be off-putting to viewers used to the more frantic pace of the Jason Bourne or James Bond films. Rating: Probably worth a matinee price, not worth full price.
