The Black Box by Michael Connelly

The Black Box is the latest excellent episode in the Harry Bosch series. The story starts during the LA riots (of Rodney King fame). Harry is on duty when a beautiful Danish photojournalist is found dead. Due to all the chaos at the time, a proper investigation is never carried out and the case is never solved. Twenty years later, Harry is working on the cold case squad and is still haunted by the case--which he is determined to solve. Soon he's come across a Desert Storm tie to the woman's death. And that's when things get really interesting. If you're unfamiliar with this series, do give it a look. Harry Bosch is an interesting, well-developed character and the plots are well written.
