The Last Man by Vince Flynn

The Last Man is the latest in the "Mitch Rapp" saga by Vince Flynn. It starts with the abduction of Joe Rickman, head of CIA Clandestine Operations in Afghanistan. The CIA, worried about how much sensitive information is stored in the head of this longtime CIA man, frantically tries to find him before the miscreants can get from him the names of CIA assets around the world. Mitch Rapp is not so sure all is as it seems and he is racing against the clock to find out what's really going on before any damage to the CIA network can be done. Oh yeah, and someone keeps trying to kill him. And frame him. And generally destroy his reputation. My favorite part of the book is when Mitch wakes up in the hospital after suffering from a head injury in an explosion. He suddenly has become a kinder, gentler man who flirts with a female agent and seems genuinely shocked when he realizes how many people he has killed over the years. I'm kind of hoping some parts of that Mitch hang around for the next book.
