Zero Day by David Baldacci

A military man and his entire family are slain in rural West Virginia and military investigator John Puller is called in to find out what happened. Soon one of the local cops is found dead, then the neighbors of the original victims. John is on his own except for the help of a local cop, a feisty woman named Sam. Together they uncover a plot that could have devastating consequences for the entire region. Zero Day is quite the page turner, with plenty of twists and turns--and a few red herrings thrown in to misdirect John and the reader.
