The Husband List by J. Evanovich and D. Kelly

If you're in the mood for frothy fluff, The Husband List is the book for you. Set in the 1890s, it tells the story of feisty Caroline, a rich heiress whose mother is determined to marry her off to Lord Bremerton (a man who sends all kinds of alarm bells off in Caroline's head). Caroline would rather marry the hardworking and dashing but alas "not of our class" Jack Culhane, her brother's best friend, though she thinks that's not a real option. But soon confirmed bachelor Jack is seeing marriage in a more positive light and decides to help Caroline escape from the clutches of Lord Bremerton. You do wonder what Caroline's mother is thinking when she sees the state of Bremerton's home and lifestyle back in England and still wants to pursue the marriage for her daughter. But it's mostly good fun, with a likeable heroine and a handsome hero who just want a little romance.
