Trains and Lovers by Alexander McCall Smith

Four people on a train from Edinburgh to London share a compartment--and their stories--with their fellow travelers. Andrew relates how he met and fell in love with golden girl Hermione, despite her overbearing father. Kay tells of how her parents met, fell in love and raised a family in the Outback of Australia. Hugh tells of how he met his girlfriend Jenny when he got off his train at the wrong stop--and how lack of trust has colored their relationship. And David remembers a long ago crush on a boy named Bruce, whom he met one summer vacation. The stories are engaging and flow smoothly. An excellent book for a day at the beach.
