Doing Hard Time by Stuart Woods

Doing Hard Time was a quick read but it was not my favorite Stone Barrington book. In fact, Stone is kind of a minor character and his best friend Dino barely appears. Most of the story is about Teddy Fay, a multi-talented character from an earlier book, who has good reason to stay under the radar.

Stone's son Peter and his friends are heading out to Hollywood to start their film careers when someone tries to kill them. They're saved by what turns out to be Teddy Fay, who is temporarily working incognito at a gas station in the middle of nowhere. Soon the Russian mafia and various trained assassins are involved--and Stone does something that I thought was totally out of character.

It's not a bad book, just not my favorite.
