The Bootleggers by Clive Cussler and Justin Scott

I have loved the rest of the Isaac Bell series but did not like The Bootleggers. Indeed, I got part-way through it and took it back to the library. It was too convoluted of a plot with too many characters wandering around and I just gave up because life is too short to waste time on a book you're not enjoying.

I do recommend the rest of the series, however. Isaac Bell works for a detective agency in the early 1900s.
And it's interesting to see how crime-solving techniques have evolved over the years. I also like Isaac's relationship with his true love, who's involved in the fledgling movie industry.
