Mad Women by Jane Maas

Jane Maas, a long-time fixture in NY advertising, decided to write a book about the real women who were working in advertising agencies in the 60s, the time of the TV show Mad Men. (She was one of them.)  It's an interesting read if you're into advertising at all. She talks about some classic ad campaigns, such as the VW "Lemon," Benson & Hedges' "silly millimeter longer"  and United Airlines' "Take me along" campaigns. And there are some very funny behind-the-scenes anecdotes. But it's kind of sad to see that while women have come a long way since then in some respects, in others they haven't made much progress at all.
