Murder 101 by Faye Kellerman

After 30 years as an LAPD cop, Peter Decker decides it's time for a slower-paced existence. So he and his wife Rina move to Greenbury, in upstate New York, to be near their kids and grandkids.
After working in LA, being a cop in Greenbury is kind of a snoozefest and Decker's new partner, spoiled rich kid Tyler McAdams, is a handful. But then an interesting case comes along involving the theft of some Tiffany panels from a cemetery. Then a murder victim is discovered and soon Peter Decker is back in his element. The case turns out to have a lot of ties to the art world -- just the milieu for rich New Yorker Tyler.

I like that Faye Kellerman has successfully taken this long-time series into a totally different direction without losing the integrity of her main characters, Peter and Rina. Good story, good characters.
