Twelve Days by Alex Berenson

His personal life is a mess--the women in his life can see that work always comes first--but I love the character of John Wells in this long-running series. The ex- CIA agent always seems to be trying to save the world. This time around the only people on his side are his ex boss Ellis and a senator with presidential aspirations. And all three of them have enemies in high places. The three have just 12 days to stop a war with Iran. It's a war that they are convinced is based on a false premise. But they don't have proof. The clock keeps ticking down as they're thwarted by both the people behind the plot and by members of their own government as they try to get that proof without getting killed. It's just the thing to take your mind off this never-ending winter.
