Two books by Lisa Gardner and Jacqueline Winspear

I recently finished two books in ongoing series that I enjoy. The first was In  This Grave Hour, the latest installment in the Maisie Dobbs series by Jacqueline Winspear. This series started with Maisie a nurse during WWI. It has now progressed to the late 1930s, just as Britain declares war against Germany. Maisie is still running her private investigation firm and is hired to track down the person who has been killing Belgians who moved to England during the first world war. As always,
Winspear tells a good story. And it looks like there might be a chance for a little romance for Maisie in the form of a man from her past who has reentered her life.

The second book I just finished is Lisa Gardner's The Next Accident, featuring former cop Ranie O'Connor and FBI profiler Pierce Quincy. This book delves into the accident that took the life of Quincy's daughter. Because she had a high blood alcohol level at the time of the accident, everyone assumed she had just lost control of the car and crashed. But Quincy and Ranie are beginning to think that someone else may have been involved and the accident was no accident. Then something happens to Quincy's ex-wife, and they're sure that was no coincidence. And it's a race against the clock to identify and track down the person who is out for revenge against Quincy. It's quite the page turner.
