The Diary of a Bookseller by Shaun Bythell

Diary is a charming book about a bookseller in a small town in Scotland, written in the form of a diary, complete with number of customers and sales for the day. He's dealing with colorful customers, an eccentric assistant named Nicky, and Amazon's plan to take over book selling and apparently the world. Parts of the book are hilarious--often involving his interactions with customers.

Reading this made me appreciate the little independent book shop in my neighborhood even more. It has managed to outlast Borders, Barnes & Noble, Crown Books, and the other independent book store that all used to grace the neighborhood. And thankfully it's still growing strong.
