Dead Land by Sara Paretsky

I have loved all the rest of the V.I. Warshawsky series, featuring a feisty PI in Chicago. But Dead Land dragged so much that I gave up halfway through. V.I. spends much of the book trying to find a mysterious guy named Coop and a homeless woman with significant mental health issues who may be a singer/composer whose husband was killed in a mass shooting. The other story involves something fishy going on in the park district with plans to alter the lakefront, that may or may not  have led to a couple of deaths.

I've had limited time to read lately, so I decided to spend my time reading something else. Hope our heroine gets back in the swing of things in the next book.
