Undercover Bromance by L K Adams

I was reading the newest James Lee Burke novel--and I do love his writing--but it was such a dark, violent story that I set it aside in search of something fluffier. And that's when I found Undercover Bromance, which is, okay, very silly but it did fit the bill of good pandemic reading material.

The "bromance" part is a group of guys who like to read romance novels. The leader of the group is the handsome and successful in business but not in love Brady. He has learned everything he knows about how to treat a woman from romance novels and today's modern women find it a little off-putting. Then he meets pastry chef Liv who has issues of her own and who lost her job because of Brady (inadvertently on his part). She was working for the sleazebag serial harrasser Royce and once she's fired she makes it her mission to bring him down. But he will not go easily and intends to take her career--and then Brady's (when he joins forces with Liv) with him. Of course, Brady and Liv fall in love, though neither one of them is very good at it.

There is a lot of sex and swearing in this book, so if that bothers you, this is not the book for you. But it was kind of a cute story and as the author notes at the end say: Romance novels always have a happy ending. Which is a good thing in these trying times.
