The Second Worst Restaurant in France by Alexander McCall Smith

After finishing My Italian Bulldozer, I was happy to discover that there was a follow-up book on the adventures of Paul, the food writer. In this book, Paul is writing a new tome on the philosophy of food, which is going very slowly. When his cousin Chloe pops up and offers to let him come to France and share the house she's renting, he jumps at the chance. And soon he gets sucked into life in small town France--the woman who's pregnant by a very dangerous man, the restaurant "chef" who can't cook, the twin sisters who own the house they're renting. And the more he learns about his cousin Chloe, the more Paul thinks she's making up a lot of her past and he wonders what her real story is.

Personally, I liked the first book in the series better. (I thought the middle of this one kind of dragged a little, but it did have a nice ending.)
