Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult

This is my book group's current selection, which we're discussing this week. It's basically the story of Ruth, a Black labor & delivery nurse who's a widow and single mother. She's the only Black person on her team at the hospital which turns out to be a problem when Turk and Britt, two diehard White Supremacists come in to have their baby. Turk does not want Ruth touching his son--which turns out to be a problem when the baby goes into medical distress and Ruth is the only one available. Which leads to Ruth's arrest and trial, where we meet her white public defender Kennedy.

I liked Ruth and her son Edison. And I liked Kennedy and her husband Micah. But there was way too much time spent on Turk and Britt's White Supremacist activities. And I thought the ending of this book was totally unrealistic.
